Mandrel Bending
Mandrel Bending
Mandrel bending is a technique that uses a mandrel, a solid steel rod that is inserted in the pipe while it is bent. This gives the pipe a nice bend without breaking or wrinkling at the bend. Parker Fabrication, Inc. uses mandrel bending for designs that require minute and tight bends.
With mandrel bending, bends with radii as tight as the diameter of the tube are possible, whereas with empty bending (bends without an internal mandrel) the acceptable radii are usually two to three times the diameter. All of these, we employ using a Computer-Aided Design system for accuracy and precision.
Plug, form, ball, cable or sand, whatever type of mandrel bending is needed, you can always count on Parker Fabrication, Inc. When it comes to mandrel bending, we can handle any job, as we have a wide set of dies that we can use for any bending task.
